The Iron Mosque

Mosques are a common architectural sight in Malaysia as Islam is the 'official' religion of the state (while at the same time Malaysia is a secular state). They come in different sizes and variations in shapes. There are large ones, and chapel-like-sized ones in residential areas. There's even one built of glass and crystal on the east coast.

Putrajaya has a notable one. Often called Masjid Besi (Iron Mosque) (not its official name) it's the second principal mosque here, catering to the people working hereabouts. I've yet to get a satisfactory explanation as to why it's called the Iron Mosque.

Observation and discussion of the day (with Priya): Putrajaya is a VERY homogeneous place. Not something I'm comfortable with. Homogeneity gives me a feeling akin to insects crawling under my skin.
