Meeting high water at dawn
Not a time to tread the lower promenade
round what had been Scarborough's South
Bay Pool. It was believed by some that the
weight of water in the pool was essential
to stabilise the cliffs which overlooked the
fact that it was drained from time to time
to dig the sand out which came in with the
sea which on days such as this would
overtop the wall.
