Back in the saddle
Knew it wouldn't be easy today. Friday operations are always tricky as the hospital goes in to weekend stand down. Instead of the normal 7:00am consultants rounds with a team of 10 docs of various grades cramming themselves in to the room and pretending to listen to the words of wisdom, it's 9:00am and the junior ward doctor and nurse. The junior doctor is now faced with working from Friday evening until Monday morning, non-stop. He wasn't on duty when you were operated on and has no knowledge apart from reading your notes. He doesn't want to decide anything himself (understandable) and so my battle commenced.
"No you need to stay just in case. No we won't be doing anything but take your temperature twice and blood pressure once, but you could suddenly get an infectuon. You must stay at least another night (and better still on Monday when Prof is back)".
Eventually I got my release papers at lunchtime and signed the form saying I was leaving the hospital against advice and at my own risk. Not as dramatic as it sounds, doc off the record saying take it easy and go to specialist on Monday to have the wound checked.
So headed back home and then took a pleasant afternoon nap before Angie phoned to ask me to come and pick up Flash from the evening ride. It was 18:15 when I took the Blip. Days are certainly getting longer.
Quiet evening and so pleased to be back in control of fridge, coffee machine and TV remote control and PC. I did try a bit of Bliping in hospital using mobile but its hard work and apart from managing a few words of congratulations to Dave in France for his 1825 Blip, I gave up. Hope I can catch up on other journals now that I have caught up on my own.
