The Old Synagogue
The Old Synagogue in Canterbury is considered to be the best example of an Egyptian Revival Synangogue. The earliest record of a Jewish Community in Canterbury is 1160.
This building was constructed in 1846-48 to replace the 1763 building that was taken down to make way for the railway.
It is now maintained and used by The Kings School Canterbury as a recital hall.
But apart from all that, I've always been a bit fascinated by the fact it was built right next to Canterbury Cathedral and is tucked away in a residential street and of course, how beautiful it is :)
And in other news... 365 Blips! Blimey! :0)
