The Chiltern Brewery Tour
We had a very belated Bell Ringers Christmas Do this afternoon. A tour round our very local Brewery, The Chiltern Brewery.
There were 8 of us plus another party and we spent a very enjoyable couple of hours listening to the history of the place and doing some tasting. We were also fed local cheese, biscuits, beer bread and chutney. It was a good chance for us all the catch up properly.
All the Chiltern Ales are yummy, we had 2 of there draught ales for our wedding celebrations, we even took what was left on our honeymoon!
Today I tried the John Hampden's Golden Harvest Ale, Chiltern Pale Ale, 300's Dark Old Ale and finally Bodgers Barley wine. The barley wine is amazing but its 8.5% vol, delicious, quite sweet and I imagine would give you a mega hangover! I was lucky enough to be given a bottle to bring home!
This barrels in the extra photo were especially made for the brewery and they cost over £200 to make! They are not used very often but can be found in The Kings Head in Aylesbury, which is a pub run by the Brewery for the National Trust and is well worth a visit for it's great atmosphere, food and of course beer!
