Down by the Riverside
Back-blipped on 13 July
A river seems a magic thing. A magic, moving, living part of the very earth itself.
(Laura Gilpin, Photographer)
I slept all day again. I slept until about 7:30pm, pulled on yesterday's clothes and drove to Malton picnic site where I went for a short wander in the post-flood sogginess alongside the River Browney. In places the tarmacked footpaths have been lifted and moved by the water, and much of the vegetation has been flattened and covered with mud.
As far as I am aware this was another dull grey day, but as I sat on my favourite thinking bench the sun came out and glistened on the still deep and muddy waters. It was a glorious sight and felt like a glimmer of hope. I stayed until the sun disappeared again - about 10 minutes - then returned home and went straight back to bed, and to sleep.
This is what I was doing on those wet and muddy footpaths!
