Big Blep Blip
There's an internet craze started by cat owners showing pics of their feline friends with the tips of their tongues poking out and hashtagged #blep. I've tried unsuccessfully to discover its etymology. I'm wondering whether it is because the pink pussy tongues look like blisters or bleps?
It's not restricted to just cats now. I give you the mother of all bleps. A muntjac's tongue is so long and flexible that it can easily reach and clean every corner of the animal's face. The deer has scent glands on its forehead and at the corner of its eyes. It can lick these and spread the scent through licking, as well as by rubbing its head against branches and boulders.
I also got quite a nice pic of a black pheasant in with the donkeys and ponies and have added it to extras.
