A Great Reassurance

Got up before 3am (and didn't sleep much before that) to drive the kids to Lisbon airport, had breakfast with them and waved them through departures, filled up with LPG, drove a while to park, and still got to the Tagus before the sun came up ... this photo does not do justice to the dramatic beauty of it, but chose it because pretty sure that white streak up to the left of the sun is their plane.

Felt utterly bereft coming back to this empty house with the beds all just as they'd left them - so, reading today's poem was a salutary call back to what truly matters, "Pax", by D H Lawrence (of all people):

All that matters is to be at one with the living God
to be a creature in the house of the God of Life.

Like a cat asleep on a chair
at peace...

Sleeping on the hearth of the living world
yawning at home before the fire of life
feeling the presence of the living God
like a great reassurance
a deep calm in the heart
a presence
as of the master sitting at the board
in his own and greater being,
in the house of life.

Extra of them all; Zion is saying "bye-bye". Seems he might have hand, foot and mouth disease - which I'd never heard of - he's wearing foundation to mask the spots in case TAP got worried...
