Bye Bye Sodium

Low energy LED street lights have finally come to our village but there's still a few old sodium lights lingering in the background.

I think the LEDs give a better quality and more natural light, a bit like moonlight. The roll out across Stirling will also save tens of thousands of pounds in electricity costs.

It was one of the first issues I brought to the Council for debate in 2012. Since then the ways for Councils to borrow to 'spend to save' have opened up a little and there is a full replacement programme now underway.

Energy efficiency in the public sector still has along way to go though..
