Aagate

Indeed, two gates, for the first time since July.

It nearly didn't happen. The stonemasons came to finish off pointing etc. and to hang the gate - and discovered that the new upper hinge we'd picked up from the blacksmith didn't fit the old spigot on the pillar.

Luckily, the blacksmith was able to pick it up in passing and get a friend to return it later in the day.  Said friend wasn't expecting to have to help lift the seriously heavy oak gate into place. Recalcitrant lower hinge was nudged in with a sledgehammer; we don't do faffing at the Dell House.

In other news, we got distracted again from the aim of agreeing some planting, and cut down some more laurel and holly instead.

In the evening we saved the world (again).  It's going to need saving again next month, which is great as we really enjoy our evenings out with Dan & George.
