A place in time

Ghost signs

Ghost signs:

I’ve blipped this building before, but this time I wanted to feature the “ghost sign” still showing on the brickwork above the modern pub facade.  “Wholesale tobacco & confectionery distributors.”

The building itself has had quite a history being home to the first purpose built motor vehicle factory in Britain back in the early 1900s.  Not that you would realise this now, when enjoying a swift drink in what is now a branch of Wetherspoons.  Take a peek at:

The first link does make mention of the dancing – I remember practising my ballroom and latin on one of the upper floors of this building on a beautifully sprung dance floor prior to my one and only competition when I was about 15.

Thought for the day:

To those having a hard time right now, remember: this is only temporary.
