Grilled Cheese & Fries
I took the opportunity on this unseasonably warm Sunday to make the short trek over the mountain to have dinner with my Mom at Haywood's On The Green in Mill Hall.
Haywood's is a locally well-known sports bar/banquet facility that is situated at the edge of the Clinton Country Club golf course, just behind the popular Millbrook Playhouse. There are several rooms included in the dining room/bar area; each featuring big screen tvs, tuned to the various sporting events of the day.
I'm not really a fan of sports bars in general but this one also has an outdoor patio area that overlooks Fishing Creek, which I believe would offer a nice, relaxing dining experience in more temperate weather.
My featured photo of the day is Haywood's grilled cheese sandwich, featuring tomato and bacon with a side of french fries. This sandwich is not on the menu (which is filled with all sorts of sandwiches, wings, pizza and so on), but ordering it is not a problem.
I have to say, it was a very nice grilled cheese and the fries were fried to a golden brown, without an abundance of salt (big plus there). It was a little bit pricey but I will definitely try to schedule another visit here in Spring/Summer to check out their alfresco dining experience.
Check out the "extra photos" section for an exterior shot of the restaurant and if you are interested, you can find out more by visiting Haywood's website here: http://haywoodsotg.com/about-us/3728792
"Now, I was a fan of the simple pleasures in life: grilled cheese sandwiches without black flecks on the crust, jeans that didn't pinch the better parts of me, an inch of vodka, ten to twelve hours of sleep."
