THE CRANES ARE BACK
The latin name of the bird is Grus grus
We hear their cries first dimly, then a bit louder, we think they are still behind the hills, but suddenly their is a formation in the sky. Sometimes they does not come nearer to where we are, sometimes they fly above our heads.
An amazing sight, that silences me. I try to take pictures, turning around, want nothing to miss of it.
In the extra photo their formation is broken, it takes some time before they succeed to make a big V.
The day started with rain, and there even was hail for a short time.
In the afternoon the sky became lighter and we walked along the Weser.
Before the sun set, the clouds had disappeared. We found it strange.
My haiku:
Twice a year they fly
But in opposite direction
In spring to the North
And the proverb:
The cranes of Ibycus.
(c. 540 B.C. Ibycus, a greek poet, attacked by robbers, called on a flight of cranes to avenge his death. The subsequent sight of these cranes called forth a remark which led to the arrest and execution of the murderers,
