Cool Red Hot Poker

A southerly brought a 20ºC drop in the temperature and covered the lawns with masses of dead green leaves from the poplars. Rainclouds were coming over the hills so I spent a very busy half hour putting things away and doing other pre-rain jobs before the rain reached me. The rain amounted to 4mm, not enough to do a lot of good for the stricken trees, and I was exhausted.

This leap day was the end of summer for us. It certainly felt like it.
