First Impressions ~ Ho Chi Minh City

We arrived at 6 a.m. after an 11 hour non- stop flight~and the city was already alive and kicking .....
The first thing to hit you is the noise of horns and hooters from buses, cars and motor scooters........there are thousands of motor bikes!..... some with only a driver, others carrying the whole family!
Am certain that a decade ago, the streets would have been full of bicycles.....but today it is scooters and motorbikes. Everyone is wearing a helmet, and most have face masks because of the air pollution.
Apparently the locals prefer to call the city.....Saigon... but officially, it is Ho Chi Minh City.
Today's Blip is the first photo I took, as we strolled around the city.......showing the motorbikes........the weather is hot and humid, so strolled is the operative word.....until you want to cross a road! We had been warned. The scooters won't stop for you.....even when you have 'the green man'......you have to walk purposefully, and the drivers will, hopefully, drive around you....they may mount the pavement but they won't stop; they'll blow their horn!
