The dead branch

Not sure if it ever fell,  but these guys watched it for ages. We have cleared so much holly and laurel that long dead branches stuck up in the canopy have come crashing down.  We are all supposed to wear hard hats and I have found a hard hat is very useful in stopping your hair from getting singed when near the bonfire. 
We have had 4 or 5 days in this section of the woods. I think it looks amazing but we had a few old moaners walking by saying that man should not interfere with nature and we should leave the woods for the creatures.    My response is that 100 years ago there were pigs,  goats and a lot more deer roaming around eating the the new shoots so the woods did not get choked with holly and laurel.
