Bulrushes

A beautiful spring day today, sunny with blue skies. I liked these bulrushes in the sunshine along the river bank. Up north it is a different picture, snow, rain and very cold weather. Luke has his annual college ball tonight and luckily it is not snowing in Durham but it is raining with miserable weather. I doubt it will stop the girls from wearing open, strappy evening dresses, the youth never seem to feel the cold. Last weekend when we were in Durham we saw exactly that - on a cold winter's night there were girls out in dresses that barely covered their knickers and they were bare shouldered, teetering on such high heels over the cobbled streets I am not sure how they do it. Add alcohol into that situation and ...splat, someone is bound to take a nosedive!

It is Mother's Day on Sunday and I was very pleased to receive a card today from Luke - with a northern touch of course, it was Happy Mother's Day Mam!

Looking forward to watching Suffragette on TV tonight, I was unable to go see it when it was on the circuit.
