After the meeting

Despite all the dire predictions, the meeting went ahead today after all.  there wasn't a total fire ban, which is just about the first time in living memory in heat like this.

And we had a really good turn out as well - a bit surprising given the hot day.

Anyway, just driving out from the Park we saw the emus happily walking around where a group of guys were trying to play football.  Yes, they are totally wild birds, but they are also very used to humans.  The birds have lived and bred in the park for a long time.

I kind of like that my emergency blips are of such iconic birds.  And I kind of like that it is dwarfed by one of our exotic trees (a giant sequoia)  planted well over 100 years ago.
