Helwith Bridge
A last minute change of venue for this weekend's Remote Emergency Care level 2 course meant an early start and a drive into the heart of the Dales. Arriving at the hut of the fantastically named Yorkshire Subterranean Society the sky was overcast but the impressive looming bulk of Penyghent suggested blip possibilities if the weather improved. It didn't....
The course is two days and today was excellent - everything I hope to be able to deliver myself in the future, though I still believe I can add some more specific aspects that certain clients will want and that would help set my courses apart. Both the instructors were happy to chat through my ideas and both have offered me assisting roles to build up my provisional hours, so hopefully that will add another string to my bow and help me build up my UK client base a bit more.
We did quite a few scenarios outside through the day - which just meant we got increasingly wet and saw less & less views as the day deteriorated. As ever on a course it was a full full day and blips weren't readily available - but leaving the hut at 17.30 the sky to the West looked spectacular. I needed to balance on a drystone wall to avoid the quarry dominating the shot, but at least I took a picture in the end as ten minutes later it was gone.
