Happy 80th Birthday

The anniversary of the first Spitfire flight was today. We'd arranged to go on a sunset shoot with a Spitfire and a Kittyhawkat the Hangar 11 Collection along with MatthewHicks and Chris of AnnieandChris fame. With the grass too soft to wheel a plane on and a very busy airport perimeter road and around 60 photographers on the shoot it was certainly a challenging afternoon. Finding the optimum shot without photographers, or less than ideal backgrounds was very tricky indeed.

That said, it was a privilege to have access to these planes. For this shot a tripod and graduated filter were used - those of you who know me in real life will probably need to pick yourselves up off the floor now!

Extras are detail of the exhaust and then the run up for both the planes, alas I had no control over the lights - floodlights from above to minimise the effect of the aforementioned number of photographers.
