Self Portrait in Acrylics
I'm following a youtube channel which has been created by a lady called The Art Sherpa aka Cinnamon Cooney (what an ace name!). She has a year long quest (but you can start it any time and take as long as you like). This is quest 4 which was to transfer your image onto something and then make your self portrait any which way you like. So as it's an acrylic course, I thought I would give it a go in acrylics. I went to my local library and had my facebook picture printed out and then I used kitchen grease proof paper to outline it and transfer it onto acrylic paper. I gesso'd and then mixed a grey for the background. Not bad for a first attempt. Yeah, I can see where I went wrong but I'm not pulling myself apart for it... the point being is to enjoy the process and to DO it. You can't learn anything by just sitting there. I now know I need to work on blending, shading for my nose and colour matching more and that is what I got out of it. I'm learning all the time which is ace. I love Cinnamon's outlook on life and her positive encouragement.
