Baby Nuru

This little treasure was born 10 days ago at Whipsnade Zoo.  She is just beginning to make her appearance to the outside world although is kept indoors at the moment.  Nuru and her mother have a separate area off the giraffe house where they can have some privacy from the other giraffes and the general public.  I was lucky enough to see her on one of her short appearances - Nuru did not seem worried but her mother was clearly anxious with all the attention focussed on her - the keepers then moved them both into their own space partly to allow the other giraffes in from the cold.

Whipsnade is not a place for a cold day so, having got my baby giraffe shots, I dropped by the rhino compound to see how Bali is progressing and then a quick visit to the butterfly house before returning home.
