Has the beauty faded?

I passed this today, a graffiti rangefinder! It set me thinking...

One of the first cameras i bought (nearly 30 years ago) was a battered old Nikon Rangefinder a bit like one of these.

It was such a beautiful object, followed by a second hand Nikon F2. I just loved the milled metal dials and the feel of it in my hand.

Cameras were such beautiful things back then, i still love Nikons but i cant decide if its me growing up (a bit) or have cameras lost a bit of their beauty somewhere along the way?
