Jambusters

Big WI meeting today where the speaker was Julie Summers, writer of "Jambusters", the book on which the TV programme "Home Fires" was based. She was full of fascinating stories about the role of WI members during the Second World War. An excellent speaker, she had no notes and kept us absorbed for nearly an hour.
The meeting was full of good speakers and lots to see as well. Meeting old friends from all over Surrey was a big part of the enjoyment of the day.
In pride of place on the platform was this lovely flower arrangement. At the end of the meeting it was broken up and the flowers were given to committee members who were retiring.
