Vasaloppet

Our alarm clock went of at 0700, and we got up and went out and finished all our morning chores. Mum made hot chocolate and moved the comfy duvet to the sofa, and then we were ready! Vasaloppet! We have been looking forward to it all winter! Well, mum has, and so me by association.

What is Vasaloppet, I hear you asking. Vasaloppet is the biggest cross country ski race in the world. This year 15800 people skied the classic 90 kilometre race from Sälen to Mora. The race was arranged for the 92nd time this year. It is said King Gustav Vasa skied this same trail but in the opposite direction headed to Norway in 1521, to escape the Danish, who were chasing him.

So. We were very cosy and I slept through most of the race. Mum watched intently. It took the elite four hours, but most people take 8 or 9 or up to twelve hours! So we HAD to go out, twice, which was lucky because even if it was cosy, in the end, it got boring for me.

Our tomato seeds have all come up! Mum is happy her gene bank seems to be in top shape!
