Martenitsa

My son got this martenitsa from a Bulgarian classmate. It is a Bulgarian tradition to give small pieces of adornment made of red and white yarn to friends and family members on Baba Marta Day, the first of March. Martenitsi are meant to symbolize joy, good health, and the coming of spring and are worn until you see a stork or a blossoming tree.
