Keel.

The sun didn't make an appearance until late afternoon, when having decided to do the challenge I asked Mum what in the garden began with the letter K. Neither of us could think of anything, but then she thought of the keel of a boat and one of the "Airfix" models my Dad completed within the last few years of his life.
