"SEVEN!"

I was working with this 5 year old today. She can count and recognise 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. We talked about 6, counted to 6 wrote 6 etc. and eventually I thought she was ready to move onto 7.

In order to differentiate 7 from 6 I told her about Len Goodman on Strictly Come Dancing and how he says "sevEN!" She looked at me as if I was mad (nothing new there!) However, it seems to have worked - she now says 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, sevEN!

I just hope she doesn't go through life saying 7 in this way!!
