Noises from the SW Front

Old and New

We have a Lake in Tempe Arizona. Not a common site in the middle of a desert and definitely not a natural occurrence. About 15 years ago the town dammed the Salt River, which is normally dry, and pumped in water from an irrigation canal. The town fathers thought it would spur development; all of the other local towns thought they were nuts. Turns out, Tempe was right. The banks have been developed, the lake is used for boating and it looks terrific. It's been such a success they're building a new, steel dam , to replace the rubber dam which burst once previously.
