Ammonites #1

Following on from my trilobite design - I still have to print the final version - I decided to embark on another fossil inspired design. This is the reverse of the design after transferring it to the block ready for cutting. Ammonites are perhaps the most widely known fossil, typically appearing as a ribbed spiral. I've been lucky enough to find three, although they were all incomplete. Ammonites appeared after the trilobites, living  in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago. Apparently the name 'ammonite' derives from the Greek  ram-horned god called Ammon.
