Art Deco Napier

What a wonderful town-albeit born from a devastating 7.9 earthquake in 1931! What the earthquake didn't destroy the fires, that started almost immediately, consumed! Now there are streets of beautifully preserved art deco buildings-feels as though you're in a time warp. Every February there is an art deco weekend when people from all over the world descend on Napier in 1930's costume to celebrate the fabulous architecture (http://art deco festival) Definitely worth a re-visit
