Lunch with Caroline
Lunch with Caroline is always lovely and today was no exception. We talked of spreadsheets, spending and saving, incomes, outgoings and age, husbands, houses, and heels. And then we got the menu. Then we talked about Venice, Rio and Cairo, phones, electricity and haircuts, TV series, films and books, dishwashers, plants and home-made granola. And then the starter arrived - we both had 'fruits with sweet and sour sauce'. Then we turned to sons with younger girlfriends of a different nationality, nephews finding themselves on the other side of the world, and ideas for how we can continue to earn money but work less. And then the main course arrived - we both had stuffed aubergines. 25 years of friendship.
