First ink wash on the hills
Today I put the first very dilute black (Indian) ink wash on all of the hills. I use one teaspoon ink to a pint of 70% isopropyl alcohol. It seeps into all of the cracks etc and brings out the details. Letting it dry now and then tomorrow I will start dry brushing some color onto the rocks. Just to the right of the protective wax paper is the rock face I hope to match. We will see as there is no formula - just my old eye. Maybe that is fine as I won't see any difference!
In the mean time I have found a great N scale product - laser cut sidewalks. A scale 10" high (.0675") but once I paint them you will think they look OK - I hope. Interesting source - Minuteman Scale Models (http://www.minutemanscalemodels.com/category-s/129.htm). They also do stuff in HO, O, and S scales. And - since I was burning up time on the computer, I pursued ShapeWays (http://www.shapeways.com/search?q=n+scale+model+railroad) for some street furniture. Unbelievable what people have done with 3D printing. Fire hydrants, mail boxes, street lights, etc. Very reasonable as well. Even N scale pigeons. Now if they have an N scale Canadian goose I am all over that - my brothers favorite bird -- NOT.
