~Sonoran Monsoons~
~The Deluge Continues~
Got two inches of rain this afternoon, in less than 90 minutes.
Thats what I call a downpour, of almost epic proportions.
But the desert absorbs this kind of inundation with apparent ease.
The porous desert soils appear dry within a few hours.
Though the plant life soak this kind of hydration up like a sponge.
It is stored in the prickly pear pads for drier times to come.
Prior to the monsoons arrival these pads are shriveled and wrinkled.
Now they are swollen and full with needed moisture for the future.
Thanks for coming by and looking in, TucsonJim
Edit: The red reflection is caused by the water
being stained by the red desert soils.
