A visit with Uncle Mal
Meet Uncle Mal. I first met Mal when I was 10, and had just started intermediate school. He was in my class. The Husband met him when he was 5, at primary school. So he's been stuck with us for quite a long time.
Uncle Mal lives with Aunty Fritha in Taiwan. Since February, Uncle Mal has been in NZ doing his teaching qualifications, as him and Aunty Fritha have accepted teaching jobs in a part of China, near Hong Kong...he's been frequently working as a teacher, but without the formal quals. So we've had Uncle Mal to pester this year.
He's just come back from a couple of weeks in Taiwan, and on this dull and dreary Sunday, just before the first day of Term 3, he opted to come out and spend the afternoon with us. He got roped into playing Skipbo.
Mal is a professional musician by trade, he's a viola player. Since being back in NZ, he's been head hunted for gigs. He's a very talented man, and we'll miss him when he goes back to Asia at the end of the year...still a few months before that, so we'll continue to harass him in the mean time.
