MAD
We flew from BCN (Barcelona airport) to MAD (Madrid airport - shown) this morning on a slight variation on the visa collection ritual. We wanted to try the new metro line to the airport which makes the taxi expense normally associated with getting out to the airport redundant. This coupled with the fact that the air tickets are half the price of the train makes the routing attractive economically. Unfortunately, we hadn't worked out how the morning start time of the metro system (5.15 am) coupled with the journey time (conflicting reports in the newspaper of between 40 minutes to one hour 10) and a take off time of 7 am with check in at 6 am would all combine. It looked a bit risky and being stuck underground when the wheels of the plane left the tarmac was not our idea of fun. Also, catching a later plane wouldn't work as there is only a 9:30 to 10:30 am window in which to hand in the visa applications and passports. Still with me? I'll send you a MENSA application form! Me? Just call me MAD . . . like my BGS (Blip Godson) SteinJ!
