A bumpy road but we made it:)

Today was jacobs last day in reception class at school! It's been a real journey for Jacob and us as a family. Only 6 months ago Jacob was a unhappy, aggressive and very anxious little boy who found adapting to his first year in school incredibly difficult - hampered by the schools inability and lack of willingness to give Jacob what he needed to develop! This had a huge affect on us as a family unit and especially on me as a mummy I felt so let down and disappointed not to mention guilty, I was very excited about Jacob starting school and the huge let down took its toll I was so anxious, unhappy and helpless and it is by far one of the most difficult times in my life!
February 2012 brought hard decisions and the start of a new positive chapter. We decided to move Jacob from the village school and move him to a smaller school in the next village! I remember visiting the school and painting this horrendous picture of Jacob with all the issues and actions Jacob had been demonstrating at the first school and despite my best efforts the school were positive and happy to accept Jacob for who he was! I have to say it was the best thing we ever did the school,class and parents welcomed Jacob with open arms and within 5 days I had my Jacob back, I cannot believe what a difference a school can make - Jacob continues to have issues and is often different to others but he is relaxed, happy and incredibly loving. No one will ever understand how much I appreciate the school and the friends that I have made as a result but especially miss C for being exactly what Jacob needed a dedicated, loving and openminded teacher with a passion for teaching all the children that have the privilege of being in her class! Jacob does not understand that next year he will not be with Miss C all the time so I'm expecting some interesting times ahead come September but I know that the school and his teachers will be there for him as will we to support him every step of the way!
