The wind on the willow
I visited John and Liz today in the house on the side of the Painswick valley near Whiteshill. As I parked in their small yard sited just below their house, I couldn't help but notice this sad sight of their willow trees demise. I was here a couple of days ago and this branch hadn't blown down then. In fact they reckon it happened between 7-30am, when their son Ralph went off to work, and 8am when John came out to walk the dog. Last autumn I'd watched John, with his son Joe, using their chainsaw to cutting away the two branches that had just blown down in a storm. The manmade structure was created by John as a skateboard ramp many years ago when the kids were young. I don't think it has seen any action for many a year.
Today I had come to visit John so that we could view some of my pictures on his massive new 4K display. He has bought it for an exhibition he is mounting to show his 3D stereoscopic images at Nature in Art ion May and June. It was really interesting to be able to see my pictures viewed in Lightroom 6, in huge detail, so you could examine nearly every pixel. I was concerned about how much any processing might distort the images, but was pleased to say the results were quite good.
