SMUHA 2016

The day started off with rain but it cleared in the afternoon and been a dry but cold evening.

Short staffed again today in the museum and I didn't get much time to work in the office.  I have been downstairs for the most of the day on the desk.  It's been a steady day and plenty to get on with.  After tea, I picked up friend Shannon and headed down to the South Mainland Up Helly Aa.  When I arrived home, mam and nieces Elsie, Lottie and Anna came over for a visit.  Quiet night in, working all weekend in the museum.

The South Mainland Up Helly Aa (SMUHA) is on tonight and coming to be the last ones of the year.  A fine dry night but a lot of the torches didn't make the full procession.  A walk from the Spiggie Hotel and down to the Peerie Spiggie beach, where they threw the torches and burned the galley in the sea.  Taken on the Peerie Spiggie Beach.
