Debris

Left Rio early again to make a 9 am starting time in the hills. I far prefer the early run, with the morning light and virtually no traffic – HH isn’t as keen, but I’m the driver, so the poor guy doesn’t have much say in the matter.

The golf wasn’t up to much, but the temperature was so much more agreeable than it has been lately. At lunch, we were joined by the new chaplain of the Anglican church in Rio and his wife, a really charming young couple, up here to visit our friend in hospital and to check out a shelter (or whatever you call it) they hope to use when hiking with some visiting friends.

Then home to the dogs and a surprisingly aggressive ‘welcome’ from the caretaker, who abruptly informed us that the lawnmower had died and we’d have to buy a new one, then stalked off back to his house. Dookie was so excited that he drew blood when he wrapped his jaws a bit too hard around my arm, so I now have a bite mark on my right arm to match the scratches from Kayla’s claws on the left. I won’t be winning any beauty contests this way..
