Dickens and Manuscripts

G and I attended the Blipmeet today at the Dickens Museum, thanks to Hildasrose and Chantler63 for organising.  When we first arrived in London we went for an early lunch at the British Library and had a look around the Treasures.  These included lots of fascinating books and documents including manuscripts by Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen.  It was fascinating to see the author's handwritten pages with their close writing and surprisingly few amendments.

The Dickens Museum is on Doughty Street, where I used to work in my first job. It was an interesting experience wandering round the very rooms that Dickens lived and worked in.  We then wandered round some related spots locally to add to the history.

The main photo is of manuscript papers in the bin by the desk that Dickens worked at. The extras are of toys in the nursery and a selfie that G & I took of us reflected in the glass fronted bookshelf containing Dickens' books (which we thought well represented a blipmeet!).

A lovely day and a peek back in time.
