After a remarkably smooth and easy journey, we arrive at Pégon, a gîte near Mauzé-sur-Le-Mignon.

It turns out to be perfect; a great pool, massive games room, and a pile of bikes that you can borrow whenever you want.

The owner recommends a local restaurant, and we decide to walk there along the country roads around the property. Have a delicious meal and then walk back in the pitch dark, with only the glow from our mobiles to light the way.
