Kelvingrove

A day in Glasgow built round Aye Write, the Glasgow Book Festival.

First session was David Spaven with a fantastic talk on the Railway Atlas of Scotland. What a knowledgeable and enthusiastic speaker. I asked a question; the only woman to do so and I think by quite a long way the youngest. Railways are not just for men! Later in the afternoon Andy Wightman and Malachy Tallack on the land - ownership thereof and how it shapes us. I would have liked each of them to have had a separate hour as they were both so good but not necessarily a coherent pairing.

Before the railways and after the land we had walks in Kelvingrove Park. The sun was out and so was the ice cream van. Here's the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, a Glasgow institution. In front of it one of the bowling greens used in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and behind it part of the University of Glasgow with some serious scaffolding going on.

A lovely Sunday all round.
