Spring in the air
We had booked for Sunday lunch at the Ship Inn at Lathom.
The pub lies by the Leeds Liverpool Canal, so we arrived early for a canal-side walk, heading up towards Rufford. Last time we walked this route the canal was closed - I think there had been a breach. This time we came across a narrowboat at a lock, and got chatting to the couple tackling the lock-gates. They asked if we wanted a lift part way back - so we said yes. Our first time on a narrowboat, I had a go on the tiller. I can see why people like this way of life.
The extra - after lunch we visited Rufford Old Hall. A fantastic display of crocus, and our first bumblebees of the year - one is visible in this shot.
