Strawberries

Although we have been away for a week, the strawberries in Cathleen's strawberry bed have not ripened very fast at all. We had a couple yesterday evening, but there are few ready as yet. Lack of sun, presumably.

One of the Sunday papers has a wee map of where in Scotland there has been, so far, a dry and sunny summer (parts of the Western Isles are experiencing water shortages, which are virtually unknown) and where the rain has been as bad as last year which was a washout (and the previous one wasn't much better!)

We sit just about on the cusp and certainly there has been a lot of rain again , though not as much as in the east or south of the border. But there has been a real lack of sunshine .
