Clints and Grykes

Millions of years of water erosion has sculpted the Yorkshire Dales into fascinating landscapes including Limestone pavements. The vertical fissures are known as grykes and horizontal bedding plane cracks clints. The grykes provide mirco habitats for numerous calcarious soil loving plants.
