MONO MONDAY - CHRIST CHURCH, SWINDON

After almost two weeks of self-imposed rest, I am determined this week to get out and about - so this morning, Mr. HCB and I went out to do a couple of little jobs - passport renewal and visiting the bank - and of course, to have a cup of coffee.

After that, bearing in mind that Mono Monday’s theme was “Look Up” we walked over to the church on the hill, Christ Church, because I knew I would have a good view from the bottom of the steps.  The church was built in 1851 and was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott.  It was built to replace the old medieval parish church of Holy Rood in the grounds of The Lawns, the hillside site being donated by Ambrose Goddard, Lord of the Manor of High Swindon.  If you look here you will see an earlier blip of Christ Church.

It was a beautiful morning, with the sun shining and a clear blue sky - but of course, you can’t see that as this photograph is mono - but we were glad to get back to the car, as the wind was rather “biting”.

With my new determination, I hope to get round to looking at some journals and commenting - thank you all for your patience.

We will never change the world
     by going to church.
We will only change the world
     by BEING the church.
