Cutting the first turf

This is the start of a new orchard, planted to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The existing orchard is the other side of the garden and is not very productive, probably because it is so waterlogged. A few of the trees still bear fruit so they will stay but I will be cutting the others down and using them as fire wood eventually.
The new orchard is starting with a dozen trees. We have found a company that sell heritage species and most of those we have ordered are native to Norfolk. Hopefully they will grow well in our soil and produce fruit that tastes better than the supermarket varieties.
PS I did not manage to get anyone famous to do the ceremonial turf cutting, I had to do it myself.
