I think everyone who visits Timanfaya must go home with a picture like this.

The boy pours a jug of water a few metres down a pipe and it comes back out as steam about 2 seconds later, heated by the underground volcanic activity. Even granules of rock dug up from about 50 cm down are too hot to hold.
