Sunset Surprise
Backblipped.
We didn't lose our power in the first storm (Thursday), but we weren't so lucky this time. Shortly before we were due to leave for dinner with friends, the lights flickered a few times and then went out. Our friends' home wasn't affected, so dinner was still on.
We dug out our flashlights and battery-powered lights, placed them at strategic locations around the house, and set off. Luckily, I didn't have to disconnect the automatic garage door opener because I'd been working on a project in the garage and the Jetta was parked outside. The route we normally would have taken was blocked by a fallen tree, but there were several alternates available.
When we arrived we were surprised and delighted to see the setting sun shining on the waves out in Bellingham Bay. It was a stark contrast with the dark clouds in all other directions.
The power was still off when we returned home, but it was restored around 1:30 am.
